The Top 10 NFR Bucking Bulls

There are great bucking bulls, and then there are National Finals Rodeo (NFR) bucking bulls. All great bucking bulls are quick, agile, powerful and athletic, but what sets NFR bulls apart from simply great bulls is a killer instinct. NFR bulls are the best of the best, and are nearly unrideable. Criteria such as Bull of the Year awards, participation in NFR and Professional Bull Riders (PBR) finals, average scores, buck-off rates and rider input all determine a bull's inclusion among the top-10 NFR bulls of all time.

  1. Bodacious

    • Every top bucking-bulls list includes Bodacious. Bodacious won the 1995 PBR Bull of the Year Award, snagged an NFP champion title and a Dodge National Circuit title. Cowboys managed to ride him just 10 times in 135 attempts.

    Little Yellow Jacket

    • Little Yellow Jacket won the PBR Bull of the Year title three years running (2002, 2003 and 2004). This bull also holds the record for the highest PBR score in history (96.5), as well as the record for highest average score in a career (94.5).

    Red Rock

    • Red Rock won the 1987 PRCA World Champion title and performed in the notable 1988 Challenge of the Champions. The NFR picked him four straight years to perform in the finals. He also bucked his first 309 consecutive riders before finally being ridden.

    Dillinger

    • ProBullStats ranks Dillinger as the top bull of all time. Dillinger won the PBR Bull of the Year title twice (2000 and 2001). He retired with the second-highest average score in history (93.79), and holds the record for highest PBR score ever (96.5, tied with Little Yellow Jacket).

    Promiseland

    • Promiseland retired with one of the highest scoring average of all time (92.62). PBR named him the top bull in 1999 and the top bull of the PBR Finals in 2000. He performed in multiple NFR events.

    Mossy Oak Mudslinger

    • Mossy Oak Mudslinger won the 2006 PBR Bull of the Year title. He bucked in multiple NFR events and retired with an impressive buck-off percentage rate of 70.83 percent.

    High Rise

    • High Rise earns his prominence in bull-riding lore almost exclusively for his longevity. He participated in seven PBR finals. Riders managed to hold on for eight seconds just seven times in more than 1,000 attempts.

    Blueberry Wine

    • Blueberry Wine bucked off 90.63 percent of all riders that climbed on his back over a six-year career. He retired with a career scoring average of 91.6

    Red Wolf

    • Red Wolf racked up numerous awards over his career including: 1996 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Bucking Bull of the Year and 1996 Dodge Challenger Bounty Bull of the Year. He also appeared in six straight PRB Finals.

    War Dance

    • War Dance won the 2005 PRCA Bull of the Year honors. He performed in the PBR Finals and NFR on multiple occasions. War Dance retired with a buck-off rate of 85.91 percent.
