How to Sponsor a PBR

The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) organization is growing its share of public interest and broadcast time. Consequently, the cash paid out to successful bull riders is growing. Yet getting to the performance level that merits such purses means competing in every available event, which requires training and travel. Sponsors of bull riders defray or cover the costs associated with this level of competition. In return, they can place advertising on the rider's apparel, exposing their brand to an international viewing audience.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact the Professional Bull Riders directly. While they have event sponsors, they may be able to direct you to needy riders in need of funds. You may even be able to put together a team of sponsored riders with the PBR's cooperation.

    • 2

Visit the PBR web site and click on the "Riders" tab. View the full listing of riders currently affiliated with the PBR. Review their statistics to search for outstanding riders.

    • 3

Research interesting riders online. Many riders maintain web pages where they solicit sponsorships. They will ask for money relative to the size and visibility of the advertising you purchase. For example, the largest logo on the back of a rider's vest will cost more. Do not be afraid to negotiate.

Review publications like "The American Cowboy" or "Cowboys and Indians" for classified sponsor requests. These magazines also operate online forums for this purpose.

    • 5

Have an attorney draw up a contract with the rider and, if necessary, the PBR. Your investment may depend on it.

    • 6

Keep PBR informed of your relationship with the bull rider. Monitor his adherence to PBR rules. You can lose your investment if the bull rider's membership in PBR is revoked.
