How to Measure the Distance for Pole Bending
Pole bending is a Western equestrian competition that is a timed event. The horse and rider begin at a run and cross a starting line. The timer begins when the horse's nose crosses the starting line. The competitor rides next to six poles starting on either side of them and circles the last pole, then weaves in and out of the poles to the other end. They turn around the last pole and weave in and out of the poles in the other direction, then run next to the poles on the side opposite to the starting side. When you are practicing for a competition, you need to set the poles at the same distance as the competition to train the horse and rider.
