How to Become a Cage Fighter

A "Cage Fighter" is a Mixed-Martial-Arts (MMA) fighter who sometimes fights in a cage or other types of enclosed structures. Cage fighters win their match by knocking their opponent out. Some techniques used in cage fighting involve punching, kicking, grappling, clenching or ground grappling. The way in which one becomes a cage fighter takes obvious strength, discipline and a lot of practice.

Look for a gym in your area that focuses on the teaching of mixed martial arts. You can usually do this by flipping through the yellow pages or even searching online. If there are no gyms that specialize in mixed martial arts, try going to a place that specializes in kick boxing or more specifically Thai Kickboxing, since it has techniques similar to that of cage fighting.

Start practicing by playing up your strengths and working on your weaknesses. If you used to be a wrestler in high school, focus on your ground work and really work to perfect it. If you are a solid striker or puncher, work in your striking techniques. Work on your weaknesses by practicing with someone who may have the opposite strengths and weaknesses of your own so you can both trade off your techniques.

Practice your new found skills and your old skills a lot. Practice is what will help you gain a better fighting sense with your opponents and will help you win more fights. You can practice by competing in amateur cage fights or other types of kick boxing and grappling. Look for them on postings at the gym or the local center where you are training.
