Information on the Marine Corps 1/2 Marathon

The Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon is a race through Historic Fredricksburg, Virginia. The official "Historic Half" brochure calls on athletes to "run the streets where the nation's first president lived as a boy and the North and the South came face to face in battle. Throw out the clocks and run 13.1 in timeless Fredricksburg (don't worry, we'll still keep official time)."

    • The distance of the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon is the standard 13.1 miles (the distance of an official marathon being 26.2 miles).

    Location and Time

    • The Historic Half takes place in Historic Fredricksburg every year in the middle of May.

    Registration

    • You must register in order to take part in the Historic Half, this can be done online. Registration begins six months before the event takes place.

    Rules

    • There is no required qualifying time, however you must finish the 13.1 miles within four hours. Walking the half marathon would not give you enough time to finish. You must be at least 10 years old to participate. All runners who finish receive a medal at the finish line.
