Plan a Trip to the Winter X Games
-
1
Determine available flights in and out of Aspen-Pitkin County Airport during the Winter X Games. This airport facilitates Delta and United Airlines, as well as regional carriers that can be inexpensive if you are willing to make several stops. The airport is minutes away from the Winter X Games site.
-
2
Look for accommodations in the Snowmass Village to stay close to the Winter X Games action. There are several small villages in the Aspen area that house tourists from around the country during the Games. Prepare to spend a premium price on these hotels for the convenience of walking to snowboarding, snowmobiling and other events.
-
3
Avoid renting a vehicle unless you plan on leaving the Aspen area during your trip. Parking is limited around the Winter X Games, and there are several shuttles that travel from the airport to nearby villages.
-
4
Arrive early during each day of the Winter X Games in order to take advantage of the free entrance onto the grounds. The Winter X Games do not have an entrance fee, but there are limits to the number of people allowed in for safety reasons. Speak with local organizers when you arrive to determine when you can line up to enter the festivities.
-
5
Budget funds for meals and souvenirs while you attend the Winter X Games. Restaurants in the area are relatively expensive, and Winter X Games merchandise can be costly if you make a lot of purchases.
-
6
See demonstrations and concerts that are part of the Winter X Games events in order to maximize your fun. The organizers of the Winter X Games bring in rock bands, young athletes and other side attractions to keep fans interested in between competitions.
