Do your homework:
This doesn't mean that you need to memorize the statistics of every player in the NFL but here are some basic things that you must know prior to the draft:
Serious injuries to big name players. Nearly every year there is a big time player that gets hurt in preseason or isn't recovering well from a previous injury that someone will draft. This year Curtis Martin is a good example.
Know the scoring system for your league. This is will influence your draft plan.
-
2
Plan your strategy-have a basic outline of positions that you want to be strong at. Over the last several years the top running backs have been significantly better than the average ones, so this is the preferred place to start.
-
3
During the draft: Follow the plan but don't be afraid to pick top players at key positions if they are still available.
-
4
Be patient. Just because someone else grabbed a defense or kicker doesn't mean you should. There is no shortage of productive options at these positions.
