Ideas for New Chicago Uniforms

Chicago is a city steeped in sports tradition. The Cubs, White Sox, Bulls and Bears have been prominent teams in their respective leagues for decades. As such, these professional teams feature uniforms with a classic feel and few changes from earlier designs. However, Chicago's rich, successful sports history provides many opportunities for new uniform ideas.
  1. Cubs

    • The Cubs have undergone several uniform enhancements since entering Major League Baseball in 1876. For much of the team's existence, the Cubs have featured blue, red and white uniforms with the classic "C" emblem. A new take on the Cubs uniform could include honoring historic Wrigley Field, the team's home park famous for green ivy adorning the outfield walls. A string of green ivy could be added to the uniform, wrapping itself around the red "C" on the jersey. Additionally, the Cubs have never experimented with black as a primary color. A full black uniform with the "Cubs" in blue could be used as an away or alternate uniform.

    White Sox

    • The White Sox currently use a gray uniform with black and white trim.

The White Sox joined Major League Baseball in the early 1900s. Throughout the years, the team has frequently displayed "Sox" on its jersey in black and white. However, not since the team's early years has it used high white socks and white hats. These ideas could be refreshed for a new uniform idea. Knee-high white socks with black pants and a white hat with black "Sox" logo would be a fresh idea while staying true to the team's historic roots.

    Bulls

    • The Bulls jersey does not use the team's bull logo.

The Bulls have a winning tradition, thanks to the Michael Jordan-led teams of the 1990s. To honor those teams, considered some of the best in NBA history, the Bulls could add the gold NBA championship trophy somewhere near the shoulder of the jersey. Underneath, the championship years or jersey numbers of prominent players could be written in black and red. The Bulls could also feature the traditional red bull logo on the jersey, something they do not currently use. The logo could serve as the background image behind each player's jersey number.

    Bears

    • The Bears helmet traditionally features an orange "C" on navy blue.

For years, the Chicago Bears have used the classic orange "C" on their football helmets. The Bears could alter their look by adding an orange bear to the navy blue helmet. The Bears could also experiment with a white or orange helmet and a navy blue "C," inverting the current color scheme. Bears jerseys have traditionally featured only team colors and no logos or lettering. An orange bear logo on the sleeve would add a creative touch.

    Chicago Themes

    • The Chicago skyline provides a possible logo for a new uniform.

In general, Chicago has many prominent landmarks and themes that can be included on new uniforms. The Willis Tower, formerly the Sears Tower, is a part of the scenic Chicago skyline that could be incorporated as a logo. Chicago is also referred to as the Windy City, so a theme with numbers and lettering appearing to be blowing in the wind could be displayed.
