1
Check the "On/Off" switch on the motor if you have equipped it with one. Many times these motors will be hooked up to lawnmowers or go-carts with "On/Off" switches. Turn the switch to the "On" position.
-
2
Check the fuel level in the engine. Fill the gas tank with fresh gas to get the motor started. Condensation can build up in the gas and cause a misfire in the engine. Fresh gas will combat any misfires that could occur.
-
3
Look at the oil level on the side of the engine. Fill the oil tank with more oil if needed. These engines are designed to shut down when there is not enough oil in the tank.
-
4
Remove the spark plug from the side of the engine with your fingers. Clean the spark plug with a rag to get any dirt or debris off of the spark plug. Try to start the engine again. If the engine will not start, change the spark plug.
-
5
Remove dirt and debris from the GC190's muffler. This is found on the side of the motor. The muffler has an exhaust hole in it. Clogs in the muffler can cause the engine to shut down due to poor ventilation.
-
6
Use a socket wrench to tighten any screws or bolts around the motor's unit casing. If air is flowing into the motor, this could cause the engine to shut down.
