My Mini Quad Won't Start

The mini quad works a lot like a regular ATV. The only difference lies in the fact that it's half the size. If you can't get your mini quad to start, there are several things that you can do before you take it to a service shop. You don't have to be an ATV technician to get your mini quad working again. You can make the majority of the repairs yourself without much knowledge of the unit.

Instructions

Check the battery on the underside of the mini quad. Use a battery tester to test the battery. Connect the red terminal of the battery tester to the positive (+) connection on the battery.

    • 2

Connect the black lead of the battery tester to the negative (-) terminal on the battery. Check the level via the display on the tester. Most mini quads use 12-volt batteries. If you aren't getting 12 volts off your tester, the battery charge is low.

    • 3

Connect the red and black terminals of jumper cables to the positive and negative terminals on the battery. Connect the other end of the jumper cables to a working battery.

    • 4

Try to start your mini quad. Leave the mini quad running for about 15 minutes to charge the battery.

Take you mini quad to a service shop to have the alternator tested, if necessary. Service shops have specified equipment to test your alternator.
