1
Check the battery on your LT80. The battery is located under the seat next to the engine and the gearshift. Make sure that the battery terminals are connected properly. Use a pair of pliers to tighten the connections to the battery.
-
2
Check the battery with a battery tester. Connect the red and black leads of the tester to the red and black terminals on the battery. The LT80 uses a 12 volt battery and your reading should be at 12 volts. If you do not get a 12V reading, try jumping the battery from a working ATV. Let it run for about 15 minutes to charge the battery.
-
3
Cut the LT80 off and then try to restart it. If you cannot restart the LT80, replace the battery.
-
4
Check the fuel level on the LT80. This is the easiest fix, but your ATV definitely won't start without gas.
-
5
Drain the gas tank if you have kept the ATV outside during all winter with gas inside the tank. Use a suction hose to drain the tank and then replace with new gas.
-
6
Have the ATV taken to a service shop to get the alternator checked. Specialized service shops will have the equipment to hook your alternator up to a diagnostic machine.
