1
Set out the strands of encased fiber-optic cables on the work bench. Pick up the main strand and pull out the fiber from the casing. Tap the entire unit against a leg to work the fiber-optic end out of the casing, then pull it out completely.
-
2
Slice off 1.5 inches of the fiber and hold the end of a 2mm hex wrench to the heat gun. Flare the end of the fiber by holding the heated wrench to the end, causing it to expand.
-
3
Cut 1/4 inch off the end of the sheathing that surrounds the fiber-optic cable. Place this cut piece of sheathing over the flared fiber cable.
-
4
Push the flared sheath and fiber into the brass LED housing on the scope. Push it tight so the fiber makes contact with the brass.
-
5
Screw the LED assembly to the bow's scope housing mount. Align the LED light to the scope pin-hole, so the LED light is directed out from the pinhole.
-
6
Heat the hex wrench again and hold the fiber cable at the pinhole until it flares. Wrap the Velcro straps to the bow shaft and affix the battery-pack to the strap. Take the bow to an archery range and turn on the LED at the battery pack. Turn the scope mount screws to move the pinhole as you take test shots at a target. Continue to make adjustments until the light is set to your desired target range.
