How to Install a Cable Slide on a Darton Tempest

The Darton Tempest is a compound bow. The stock bow is not equipped with a cable slide but installing an aftermarket slide is easy. The cable slide is a simple tool that slides over the cable guard and clasps the cable. The installation does not require a bow press but a press does make the installation easier. Without the press, you must force the cable in the slide slots. The slide reduces cable vibrations and helps silence the bow.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the cable guard. The cable guard is the rod located near the center of the bow. The cable sits against the rod and typically crosses above the rod.

    • 2

Push the slide on the rod until you reach the area where the cable crosses the rod. Rotate the slide until the two slots are aligned on the same side as the cable.

    • 3

Hold the bow with the backside of the cable guard facing your chest. Place your palm against the cable guard and wrap your fingers around the right aligned section of cable. Pull the cable against the slide and insert the cable in the slot closest to the bow grip.

Wrap your fingers around the outside section of cable and pull the cable against the slide. Insert the cable in the slot located closest to the end of the cable guard rod. This step requires a strong pull on the cable without a bow press.
