DIY Archery Target

Archery can be an expensive hobby. You can save a few dollars by making your own archery target instead of using store-bought targets. Making a target is a great project to do with the family or an archery group. The materials you need are found around the home or are available in home improvement centers. You can make your own target covers or download and print out the regulation targets available online.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare six to eight bales of decorative straw or hay. Position two bales side by side and put three or four bales on top.

    • 2

Cover the bales with burlap or cotton sheets. You can use old burlap bags, old sheets or old tablecloths. You can be fancy and sew the covers on. Duct tape the burlap or cotton sheets on the bales.

    • 3

Position the target in the spot you want it to be and see if it is high enough for target practice. If it is not, add as many layers of bales of hay or straw as you need and cover the target.

Download and print regulation targets from the internet (see Resources). Tape the target onto the bales of straw.
