How to Tune a Genesis Bow

The original Genesis compound bow was designed primarily for younger users or for those without a lot of arm strength for drawing a bowstring. Since manufacturing their first bow, Genesis has gone on to branch out into both the competition-class bow market---with the Genesis Pro line---and into the children's archery market with the Mini Genesis set of bows. Fortunately for the Genesis bow owner, all of these bows can be adjusted or tuned, which in this case means adjusting the bow's draw weight, in the exact same manner. The process itself is relatively simple.

Locate the limb bolts on your Genesis bow. There will be two of them, just above and just below the center of the bow.

    • 2

Use your 3/16 hex wrench to turn the bolts in order to raise or lower the draw weight. Turning counter-clockwise will lessen the draw weight, while turning clockwise will increase it.

Continue turning the bolts until you have reached the optimal draw weight for your arm. Make sure while you are turning the draw bolts that you do not turn one of the bolts more than a full turn without turning the other. Neglecting to turn them both may cause damage to the bow. A full turn of the bolt will increase or decrease the draw weight by approximately 1.4 pounds.
