1
Watch tutorial coaching videos to work out the different ways of playing badminton shots. Study how the coaches and professionals in the video play their shots, focusing on grip, wrist action and movement around the court. Watch footage of real-life matches and learn to appreciate how the top-flight professionals construct their points. Think about how you move around the court and play shots and consider the difference.

Practice with a friend and tell him that you want to try out a few different types of shots. Ask him to concentrate on your hands and wrists to see if he can spot any deficiencies or areas for improvement. Be prepared to abandon a certain approach if you find that it is not working out. Set up a video camera to record your end of the court as you rally and play matches. Watch the footage and try to identify any problems with your technique that you can later correct.

3
Book a session with a local professional coach. Ask her to help you correct your technique and identify any specific areas in which you struggle. Show her the video footage of your play or rally with her so she can get a good impression of your strengths and weaknesses. Apply what your coach teaches you to other practice sessions and matches, making sure you follow her advice to help advance your badminton game.

Ask your coach to help you develop two of the most difficult shots in the game -- the double and triple motion shots -- but only after perfecting the basics. Work hard at developing a strong double or triple motion stroke to help push your game to a higher level.
