How to Fix a Hairline Crack in an Aluminum Bat
While some damage to an aluminum bat is inevitable due to the contact between the bat and ball, you must repair some types of damage right away before the situation becomes worse. Small dents are normal for an aluminum bat, but cracks are not. Even a hairline crack will become a larger crack and eventually break the bat into two pieces, which will be sharp and dangerous. Repairing a hairline crack as soon as you discover it keeps the bat from becoming unusable.
Things You'll Need
- Super glue or liquid cement
- Sandpaper

1
Squeeze a line of super glue or liquid cement along the length of the crack. Most of it will remain on the bat, but a small amount will run into the crack, sealing it off.
-
2
Allow the glue to dry completely. This can take several hours depending on the product that you used.
-
3
Sand the surface with sandpaper to remove the excess glue that has dried onto the barrel of the bat. You need a flat surface to avoid problems when hitting the ball.
