How to Train With Don Gullett Jr.'s Pitching Lessons

Gullett Baseball Instruction Camps, developed by Don Gullett, former Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees pitcher, along his son Don Jr., hitting coach for Northern Kentucky University, provide future major league hopefuls with one-on-one lessons. Gullett's playing career was marked with high expectations and much early success, first as a member of Cincinnati's "Big Red Machine," winning World Series titles in 1975 and 1976, and then as a member of the New York Yankees championship team in 1978. His career, however, was cut short by injury and the instructional camps aim to help young pitchers develop proper mechanics to help avoid future arm problems.

Receive 30 minutes of one-on-one pitching instruction from Don Gullett or one of his instructors. Instructors will stress pitching mechanics and developing a consistent delivery to the plate. Many arm injuries in young pitchers develop from an awkward or strained delivery, and individualized instruction will help young pitchers develop an arm motion that is safe, easy to repeat consistently and allows for accurate and strong pitches.

Follow the instructors' advice. Instructors may provide specific tips or advice to help young pitchers remember their technique pitch after pitch. Repeating the prescribed technique will create a consistent delivery for a pitcher that will continue to promote arm health and success as a player grows.
