1
Commit to supporting goals and people.
You must push toward the goals your organization has set, and you must support your teammates. You must value both team achievement and team members.
-
2
Support your teammates.
Encourage them, and empathize with their successes and failures. Do not criticize. Follow any discussion of short-comings with praise for what was done right.
-
3
Understand and follow the values of the team members.
Understanding and following an organization's culture will help you gain the support of the people on your team. Your teammates will know what you stand for and trust you.
-
4
Encourage communication.
Encourage your team members to talk to you about problems and bring to your attention potential solutions. Your teammates have different perspectives on situations and may have more knowledge than you do about a certain issue. Take advantage of that.
-
5
Encourage individuality.
Each team member has unique skills and abilities. Your role is to help identify these skills and encourage each team member to bring their own strengths to whatever challenges the organization faces.
