Door Decorating Ideas for Basketball Season
-
Posters and Clothing
-
Easily decorate a naked door with a poster of your favorite team. With a big enough poster, your door may not require any additional decorations to show where you stand. If you'd rather not spend the money on a poster, use an old team shirt if you've got one you're willing to part with. Instead of tacking the whole shirt to the door, you could also cut out the logo or image on the shirt and post that. This gives you extra room on the door for other decorations.
Printed Pictures
-
Similar to posters, you can easily find pictures of your favorite players, teams or plays online, print them out and post them on the door. You could print a few or go crazy and collage the whole door with such pictures, since they'll only cost you the paper and ink you use to print them.
Can't Argue Statistics
-
Have you ever been watching a game with a friend and gotten into a heated debate over a certain player or team's ability? Hanging your favorite team or player's statistics on the door may provide many good "I told you so" moments when such arguments arise. This idea is easy and cheap since you can find many stats on the official NBA, WNBA and NCAA websites. Either print the statistics out or buy a dry-erase board and write the stats yourself, giving you the ability to easily erase and update stats.
Painting
-
If you're the kind of die-hard fan who only has eyes for one team, consider painting the door in the colors of that team. This low-maintenance solution will last until you decide to move or your significant other demands you paint over it. While it may not match the color scheme of your home, guests will certainly know they're walking into Lakers territory if the door is gold and purple, for example.
Framed Memorabilia Considerations
-
Think twice before hanging something valuable or fragile on the door, like a framed jersey or poster. Opening the door in excitement may be enough to knock the item down, shattering the glass. Not only does this pose a safety hazard, you'll be left with a broken frame you have to replace. If the walls are bare, consider hanging such memorabilia there, where they're less likely to be moved around and potentially broken anytime somebody opens the door.
