Areas to Play Basketball in the Poconos

Basketball is an immensely popular sport in the United States. People of all ages play the game and there are leagues at every level for players of all skills. Like many other parts of the country, the Poconos area in Western Pennsylvania has youth basketball leagues, middle and high school teams and college squads that play in sports facilities all around the area.

  1. Koehler Fieldhouse, East Stroudsburg University

    • East Stroudsburg University is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II category. The school's men's and women's basketball teams play home games at Koehler Fieldhouse, a multi-use sports facility. In addition to college games, the school hosts individual and team basketball camps for area youth. In 2010, basketball teams from the state came to East Stroudsburg when the university hosted the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's tournament. The school also rents out the facility to sports groups during the summer.

    Pocono Mountain School District High Schools

    • The two high schools in the Pocono Mountain School District have gyms where girl's and boy's basketball teams play their winter games. In addition to the school teams, local Amateur Athletic Union teams use the gyms for practice, games and tournaments.

    Clear Run Intermediate School

    • Clear Run Intermediate School has a basketball gym for its students and for AAU team usage. The Northeast Spirit AAU has multiple teams for different age groups and they play games at Clear Run. Northeast Spirit also holds a 3-on-3 tournament at the middle school.

    Delaware Water Gap/Pocono Mountain KOA

    • Visitors to the Poconos Mountains looking for a campground with a basketball court can find one at Delaware Water Gap/Pocono Mountain KOA campground. Located in East Stroudsburg, the campground has an onsite basketball court for guests. The campground's schedule of organized activities includes basketball games.

    The Hoop Group

    • The basketball organization Hoop Group holds its annual summer camps in the Poconos at its facility in Stroudsburg. Campers from elementary school-age kids to college athletes come to Hoop Group camps throughout the summer. The group also hosts parent-child camps. Instruction and games take place at indoor courts.
