Basketball Shoot

Boyd came up with this scheme for a practice drill and sent it to me last week.  It relates to a basketball shoot and you can begin using it with your team right away.Basketball Shoot

From Boyd…
This is a fairly simple thing we like to to do at the end of practice. It is a conditioning basketball drill but is fun enough that the kids have very little idea that it is testing all of their skills.

Divide up evenly whether that is 6 on 6, 7 on 7, whatever.
Half on one side of the court and the other half on the other side at half court.
First 2 guys in line start guarding their basket, 3 on the other team play against them. It is basically a 3 on 2 drill. When the 2 stop the 3, or the 3 score, whichever happens, the 2 bring the ball up the floor as quick as possible.  As soon as they cross half court, 1 player from their team (on the sideline) touches the center court ring and goes down to play 3 on 2 against the other team.
This drill is played until one side scores 10 (going by ones).

The winners get to rest, the losers run a ladder.
It usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes of constant running but they are playing each other and want their team to win.
