Basketball Players Shooting
Last week, I sent out a request for my newsletter subscribers to send in their best drills for basketball players shooting skills. Check out this one below (very creative!).
From Denise…
I coach middle school girls and this is one basketball drill they love. It’s an oldie but goodie.
Two girls start at the corners of the free throw line.
I stand out of bounds under the basket with a ball.
Two other girls start out standing out of bounds, under the basket, in line with the girls on the free-throw lines.
I slap the basketball, throw it to one of the girls on the free throw line, (playing offense). They shoot and go for a rebound.
The other two girls (playing defense) run to block the shot and box out.
If the girls playing offense get the rebound, the rest of the team has to run, usually down to the end of the court and back.
If the girls playing offense make the basket no one runs and the next two girls in line (from under the basket) play defense. The girls playing offense stay there until the girls playing defense get the rebound. When this happens the girls that got the rebound (who were playing defense) take their place and now are on offense.
This works on getting a pass and shooting, boxing out, and rebounding.
