1
Apply a liberal amount of grease to the bearing races, the round metal surfaces, at the top and bottom of the head tube of the bike. This grease is necessary for the steerer bearings to function correctly. Set the top bearing container in place in the top bearing race and slide the second onto the steerer tube of the fork. Slide the fork up into the head tube.

2
Twist the headset bearing race onto the steerer tube of the fork. Tighten the headset bearing race against the head tube bearings until hand-tight. Set any headset spacers in place over the headset bearing race, then twist the headset cap onto the steerer tube. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the headset cap. This will hold the head tube bearing system together.

3
Position the front tire into place in the fork dropouts. Be sure the tire is oriented correctly by looking for the rotational direction marker on the tire sidewall. Use a 15mm wrench to tighten the axle nuts, securing the wheel in place.

4
Slide the stem down into the top of the steerer tube. You may need to loosen the top bolt of the stem in order to fit it into the opening. Be sure that the minimum insertion marker is not showing on the stem, then tighten the top bolt using a 13mm wrench to secure it in place.
-
5
Push the handlebar into the opening at the end of the stem until you reach the ribbed center marking on the bar. Orient the bars by tilting them back and forth until they are in a position that you like, then tighten the handlebar clamp bolt on the underside of the stem using a 13mm wrench.
-
6
Slide the rubber hand grips onto each end of the handlebar. You may need to twist them back and forth in order to slide them on effectively. Some hand grips can be very tight. When you are done, take the bike out for a test ride to be certain that the steering is working correctly.
