1
Follow the cable from the front brake lever, on the left side of the handlebars, down the left fork tube to the front brake cable stop bolt. The front brake on the Hummer bike is a disc brake, which is adjusted differently than the rear brake, which a single-pivot caliper brake. Begin by loosening the cable stop bolt with a 5 mm hex wrench.
-
2
Push the arm on which the cable stop bolt is located upward a few times. This arm is spring loaded, and it controls the opening and closing of the brake pads in the caliper. Moving it a few times will settle the pads into an adjustable position.

3
Observe the orientation of the two brake pads in the front brake caliper through the window on top of the disk brake. Move the arm upward until each pad sits about 1 mm away from the brake rotor, then pull the cable taught underneath the cable stop bolt and tighten the bolt, using a 5 mm hex wrench.

Follow the rear brake cable, from the brake lever on the right side of the handlebars, to the cable stop bolt of the rear brake. Loosen the cable stop bolt, using a 10 mm wrench. The caliper will open wide because of the spring inside the caliper pivot. Close the brake lever with your hands and observe the orientation of the brake pads. If either brake pad does not align perfectly with the rim of the rear wheel, adjust its position using a 10 mm wrench.
-
5
Close the brake lever by hand until the two brake pads sit about 5 mm away from the rim of the rear wheel. Pull the brake cable taught under the cable stop bolt, using a pair of needle nose pliers, then tighten the cable stop bolt with a 10 mm wrench. Take your bike out for a test ride to be certain that the brakes are now working properly.
