How to Get Bowling Ball Speed With a Two-Handed Delivery

Most people have seen inexperienced bowlers, usually children, using two hands at the bowling alley. You might laugh when you see a bowler take the ball between his legs and roll it slowly down the lane. Two-handed bowling, however, is no laughing matter. Invented by Australian bowler Jason Belmonte, another form of two-handed bowling is now taken seriously by the bowling world. Two-handed bowlers can generate even greater velocity than bowlers using the traditional one-handed style. In addition, greater support and greater spin on the ball have led to some impressive scores.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the third and fourth fingers of your dominant hand into the bowling ball's holes. Leave the thumb outside of the holes to steady the ball.

    • 2

Hold the bowling ball with your palm out facing forward on the dominant side of your body. Place your other hand on the front of the ball to steady it.

    • 3

Move toward the lane just as you would with a one-handed technique. Swing the ball back naturally for momentum and bring it forward as you approach the line.

    • 4

Lift your non-dominant hand off the ball just before you release it. Release the ball and give it spin by rotating your hand with the fingers inside the ball. Practice throwing it hard and giving it the right amount of spin.
