What Kind of Bowling Glove Do I Need?

A bowling glove can serve a variety of purposes from improving grip to bracing your wrist for better support. Gloves also offer protection from blisters; PBA professional Hall of Fame bowler Pete Weber explains that he wears a glove to help prevent blisters, especially when bowling large numbers of games during tournaments. Instructions

Ask at your alley's pro shop about gloves. Discuss any problems you're having and any concerns you have about using a glove. Make an appointment to have a local pro or equipment expert observe as you throw a few frames to get a better idea of your needs.

Select a glove with a textured palm if you have trouble with slippage. Since the glove sits between your skin and the ball, the ball won't slide out of your hand as your palm gets warm. This extra control and the additional contact surface help you gain more lift and spin as you throw.

Purchase a glove with a wrist brace if you have a problem with your wrist bending as you throw. Keeping your wrist straight increases rotation and spin in turn increasing your chances of consistent strikes. Ask someone to watch you bowl to see if your wrist breaks if you're not sure if you have this problem.
