1
Have your ball custom fitted when you buy it. This is standard procedure, and any quality pro-shop will be able to fit a ball perfectly to your hand and strength.
-
2
Choose a house ball that your thumb fits easily into and spins around freely. Your other fingers should slide down just past your first knuckle.
-
3
Choose the heaviest ball you can comfortably bowl. The general rule of thumb is one pound of ball weight to every ten pounds of human weight. (example: a hundred and fifty pound person should use a fifteen pound ball.)
-
4
Understand that a heavier ball knocks the pins down more easily.
-
5
Buy your own shoes to decrease the random element of different shoes each time you play.
-
6
Wear comfortable clothing that doesn't restrict your movement in any way.
-
7
Experiment with bowling gloves and wrist braces if you want some extra grip and support on the ball.
