1
Assess the strength of the fielding team around you. Look for players that have a weak throw or are slow to chase the ball.
-
2
Hit the ball strategically into an empty space close to a weak member of the fielding team.
-
3
Shout to your partner that you intend to run and move as fast as you can to his wicket. Your partner should run as fast as he can to your wicket. Don't run if there is a realistic chance one of you will not reach the other wicket before the fielding team returns the ball.
-
4
Keep an eye on the ball while you are running to see how close it is to either wicket.
-
5
Place your bat down behind the crease in front of the wicket and assess where the ball is situated. If you're confident that you can make another run between the wickets before the fielding team can reach you, shout to your partner that you intend to run again and proceed back to your wicket as fast as you can.
