How to Make Anti-Fog Drops for SCUBA

One of the most important things when you go scuba diving is the ability to see properly. If you do not defog your mask, then air breathed out through your nose can condensate on the mask glass, obstructing your vision. While it is possible to purchase commercial anti-fog drops for your mask, you can make your own anti-fogging mixture, which is just as effective and can save you money.

Mix baby shampoo with two cups of water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Use the spray to apply the drops to the mask just before you go diving. Baby shampoo is better than using normal shampoo, as it does not burn your eyes like regular soap, if for any reason it comes into contact with them.

Rub a layer of a non-gel toothpaste on the interior face of the mask, in place of commercial anti-fog drops. Do this just before you go diving. Rinse the toothpaste away with fresh water.

Spit your own saliva onto the mask face. Rub the saliva into the mask face and rinse it away with fresh or salt water. While this may not seem the most hygienic way, saliva is very effective as a mask de-fogger and does not require you to buy anything.
