How to Custom Form Ice Skates

Breaking in a new pair of ice skates can be an uncomfortable and long process. The typical way to make ice skates conform to your feet is to wear them around the house or skate in them. Over time they will become more comfortable. However, if you want to save some time use heat to mold the skates.

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.

    • 2

Place the ice skates on a baking sheet. Lace up the skates loosely.

    • 3

Turn off the oven once it has reached 180 degrees. Place the baking sheet and skates in the oven. Leave the skates in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

    • 4

Take the skates out of the oven and place on your foot. Lace up the skates tighter than you normally would, but be careful to not pull out an eyelet on the boot.

    • 5

Sit for 15 minutes with the ice skates on your feet. Do not walk or skate in them. Do not flex the ankle of the boot during this process. The skates will be cool enough to skate in 24 hours after the heat molding is complete.
