How to Throw in Frisbee Golf

1
Select a light Frisbee when first learning how to play Frisbee golf. Experienced players often favor heavier Frisbees because they can put more momentum into them, allowing them to travel farther. But lighter Frisbees work better for new players--they fly straighter and have better glide. Heavier Frisbees are easier to lose control of when overthrowing them.

2
Focus on fundamentally sound throws when first learning the game. There is a natural urge to attempt to throw the Frisbee as hard as you can when throwing for distance. However, by keeping the Frisbee under control and not overthrowing, you'll find that you get the Frisbee near the goal in far fewer shots by focusing on accuracy rather than distance.

3
Use your elbow and a wrist flick to generate power on longer throws. While you can twist your core to generate extra power, it's better to perfect using the arms to throw accurately before attempting to generate extra power at the cost of accuracy.
-
4
Step forward with the leg which matches the arm that is throwing the Frisbee, with the leg stepping forward toward the target. Turn your body in the process so that your hips and shoulders are pointed at the target.
-
5
Keep your throwing motion firm when attempting to throw a midrange shot. The goal of an approach is to throw a shot that stops near the goal, making for an easy putt. It is easier to maintain consistency and accuracy by throwing shorter, firmer strokes than using a full-length throwing motion at a slower rate.
-
6
Throw soft, arcing shots when attempting to "putt" the Frisbee into the goal. With direct shots, misses will yield longer follow-up shots than softly thrown Frisbees with a more arcing flight path.
