Instructions

    • 1

Purchase or borrow two basic discs: a driver disc and a putter disc. The difference in the two disks is flexibility and weight. The driver disc will serve as your distance disc, it will be stiff and a bit lighter than the putter disc, allowing it to fly further. The putter disc, which is more flexible, smaller and weighs more, is built for accuracy in hitting the target.

Concentrate on your throw. Begin at a 90-degree angle from where you want to the throw the disc. Take two or three steps in your wind up. Move the disc from the front of your body, to the back, and once again to the front as you prepare to release. Right-handed players will release on their right leg. Left-handed players release on their left leg. This will generate the most power.

Focus on your disc grip. Place your hand under the disc. Squeeze the disc between your thumb and index finger. Guide the direction of your disc with your middle and pinky fingers. Modify the approach as you become more advanced and comfortable.

    • 4

Concentrate on your release. Right-handed players, work the disc from right to left, flinging the wrist in an upward motion and release. Left-handed players, work the disc from left to right, flinging the wrist in a downward motion and release.

Clean your disc at completion. Dirt and debris that have collected on your disc can alter its distance and accuracy.
