1
Invite your peers to join the homecoming planning committee during the beginning of the school year. Meet weekly to develop and execute an organized event.
-
2
Obtain a copy of the football schedule and choose the homecoming game. Choose a home game against a rivalry team for an exciting event.
-
3
Create a ballot with a list of potential homecoming themes and candidates for king and queen. Print the ballot for the student body to vote and count the votes. Announce the theme and candidates one month before the football game.
-
4
Locate a luxury car dealership and strike an agreement to use one car for each queen. Assign several of the school clubs with float projects to promote their club and provide entertainment. Combine clubs if necessary to create four to eight floats.
-
5
Outline a halftime schedule with specific time restrictions and coordinate with the coaches, queen nominees, float drivers and announcers. Follow the schedule and do not attempt to extend the time frame, as it will interrupt the game.
-
6
Intermix the floats and cars with queen candidates immediately outside of the stadium. Provide a halftime entertainment show with the marching band and cheerleaders before parading the vehicles around the track and announcing the candidates.
-
7
Decorate the school gym or a dance facility before the game. Decorate with a theme matching the floats and hire a DJ for the dance. Begin the dance after the football game and announce the homecoming king and queen winners at the dance.
