NFL Quarterback Challenge Rules & Setup

The National Football League Quarterback Challenge app for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch tests your virtual quarterback skills for power and accuracy. You can download the app from the iPod Store. Pro App Sports created the NFL-licensed game, but did not base it on the discontinued NFL Quarterback Challenge competition that took place from 1990 through 2007.
  1. Rules

    • The game involves throwing a football at both moving and stationary targets across 10 skill challenges. You must complete passes to targets at three different depths to score points. Moving targets move at different speeds, adding an extra degree of difficulty. Completing passes in fewer tries earns additional points. Once you earn a certain number of points, you will advance to the next round. Completing challenges and scoring a minimum number of points allows you to unlock additional skills challenges.

    Setup

    • You can download the NFL Quarterback Challenge app from the iTunes Store. The price varies by location and not all areas have access to the app. Once installed and started, you can choose your favorite NFL team by scrolling, although aside from different colored helmets and jerseys, you will not recognize any players. From there, the app will take you to a short tutorial that will teach you how to control your throws for power and accuracy. You will learn to touch your quarterback's head and drag your finger down his back to wind up your arm, then releasing your finger to throw the ball. It will also show you how to control the power and change the direction of your throw.

    Reviews and Scores

    • The NFL Quarterback Challenge app has received mostly negative reviews. Appmodo and Appolicious both found that the repetitiveness of the game will wear you down fast and you may find the control scheme difficult. They said the app had little replay value and after you played a couple of games, you may forget that the app existed, but not the money you spent on it. Touch Reviews found it a little more appealing, and liked that you could save and upload your high scores to the ProAppSports web site. ProAppSports also held a contest offering tickets to the 2010 Pro Bowl in Florida.
