Will Manchester City all but clinch the Premier League title on Sunday?
Manchester City take their 13-game winning streak in the Premier League to Old Trafford on Sunday for the huge showdown with Manchester United.
Pep Guardiola’s side will start the game eight points clear of their rivals at the top of the Premier League, and with United holding a three-point lead over third place Chelsea, it means City could finish the weekend 11 points clear at the top.
The odds on who will win the Premier League are heavily favoured toward Manchester City who are a mere 1.19 with Betfair currently. You can expect these to drop if they avoid defeat at Old Trafford and drop significantly if they win.
City have been dominant this season with 14 wins from a possible 15, dropping points only to Everton in the second game of the season in which Kyle Walker received a soft sending off in the first half.
Victory at the Theatre of Dreams would see the Citizens break the Premier League winning streak record (currently tied with Arsenal and Chelsea on 13), and more significantly, increase their lead at the top of the table to a seemingly insurmountable amount after only 16 games.
However, Manchester United will be hoping to put an end to their unbeaten run and reduce the gap between the two teams to five points to open up the title race. The odds aren’t in Jose Mourinho’s favour those as looking at the Premier League betting at Betfair, United are currently 3.45 to win Sunday’s derby and City much shorter at 2.3.
There is no doubt that both clubs are home to some of the most talented players in the world at the moment – especially players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Paul Pogba, but these players have come at a cost.
Both clubs have wasted no time in bringing in talented players, but the transfer fees that they have spent means they assembled some of the most expensive teams in football history. The graphic looks at the spending of both teams and some of the fees they have spent on current players:
