Millwall 1-0 Bradford Player Ratings: Wonderful Webster

Morison nets the winner – dailystar.co.uk

Millwall are in the Championship after a 1-0 League One Play-Off Final victory over Bradford City. But how did players on both teams rate?

Bradford City

Colin Doyle – largely untested but could do little about the goal. 5

Tony McMahon – some good runs early on and hugged the touchline to create space for others. Ineffective in the second half. 5
Rory McArdle – could have done better with two headers from set pieces, but made crucial blocks at the other end. 7
Nat Knight-Percival – enjoyed a sturdy first half but lost Morison for the goal. 6
James Meredith – Made some good forward runs but his crossing could have been better. 5

Josh Cullen – Always had time on the ball. Bradford needed to use him more. 6
Romain Vincelot – Often dropped in between McArdle and Knight-Percival to make a three-man defence. Looked solid but one error led to a Morison chance. 6
Nicky Law – shifted the ball quickly to keep the tempo up. Should not have been taken off. 7

Mark Marshall – showed his pace on both flanks, forced Craig back and was Bradford’s chief threat. 7
Charlie Wyke – couldn’t impose himself in the same way Millwall’s strikers did at key moments. Bullied by the centre-backs. 3
Billy Clarke – got into the pockets behind Millwall’s midfield on numerous occasions. Perhaps should have scored the early one-on-one chance. 6

Timothee Dieng (on 74) – did not replace Law’s mobility. 4
Alex Jones (on 74) – did not have much to feed off. 4

Millwall

Jordan Archer – responded to criticism by making a crucial save from Clarke early on. A little too direct with his distribution. 7

Mahlon Romeo – committed fouls early on but combined well with Wallace in the second half. Tried too hard at times. 5
Byron Webster – missed last years’ final due to a late injury but made up for lost time with a commanding performance. 9
Shaun Hutchinson – a vital last-ditch recovering run to put off Clarke one-on-one. Strong in the air in the closing stages. You can see why Millwall missed him earlier in the season. 9
Tony Craig – a little hesitant when tested by Marshall and needed help from Abdou defensively. Not one to offer much going forward. 4

Jed Wallace – couldn’t get into the game at first. Grew more involved in the second half and could have scored his chance with a little more composure. 5
Nadjim Abdou – closed down earlier than Williams. Limited in possession but put in a shift. 5
Shaun Williams – let Clarke get beyond him too often in the first half. Decent deliveries from set pieces though. 4
Aiden O’Brien – didn’t look at home in either the defensive or attacking phases of play. May have to move to get a run of games in his favoured position up top. 3

Steve Morison – isolated in the first half but always a threat from set pieces and showed his predatory instinct when it mattered. 8
Gregory – starved of service so dropped into midfield in the latter stages of the first half. Grew more involved in the second half and flicked on for Morison’s goal. 6

Shane Ferguson (on 70) – gave the team a little more balance than O’Brien. 6
Fred Onyedinma (on 89) – carried the ball up the pitch and held it in the corners. 6
Calum Butcher (on 90+1) – N/A
