How do I Troubleshoot an EZ Go 36-Volt Charger?

The EZ Go golf cart uses a power charger to charge the battery inside the unit. If you are having problems with the charger, troubleshoot several common problems before taking the golf cart to a service shop. Faulty cables, exposure to the elements and burn marks on the electrical cable could cause your charger to operate erratically.

Instructions

Plug your power adapter into the wall electrical outlet before you plug the charger into your EZ Go golf cart. Plug the adapter into the EZ Go golf cart receptacle slowly. If you plug the charger into the golf cart too fast, the circuit could arc and short out the charge.

Ensure that the battery pack inside your EZ Go golf cart is compatible with your charger. Check the battery pack by opening the seat on your EZ Go golf cart. Look at the voltage of the battery. Your voltage should be 12V. If you are not using a 12V battery, the charger will not be compatible, which could lead to a fire.

Look over the unit casing on your charger to ensure that it has not be damaged. Call a service technician at EZ Go if there is any damage to the unit casing on the charger. A damaged charger could cause an electrical fire or damage to your EZ Go golf cart.
