How to Make a Highlight Film

Highlight films serve an important purpose in the college athletic recruitment process. College coaches and staff review highlight films to determine which high school athletes will be included on the recruitment list. A well-made highlight film, or highlight reel, includes an athlete's best plays culled from one or more game films. Clips can be used from video shot by friends and family or from a copy of the game film provided by the athlete's coach or the school's athletic department. The highlight film should include no more than 30 plays for a total viewing time of four to five minutes. You can create your own highlight reel by using a free software program you can get on the Internet.
