High school football is not only important to the school and the surrounding community, it is also vital to the athletes' education and futures. Many high school athletes go on to college and professional teams. Use these steps to learn how to get on the high school football team at your school.

High school football athletes are pretty high up the ladder as they have been playing for years and many of them are counting on their abilities to get them college opportunities. Start early in your schooling and be at the top of your game by the time you reach high school.

      Attend football camp. This is a great way to make sure your skills are at a peak level before tryouts. It is also a great place to meet the high school coaches and other players. Contact your local high school athletic department for information on summer football camps in your area. These camps start out with kids starting in elementary grades on up.

      Work hard and practice, practice, practice. You will need to work harder than the other players if you are new to the try out list or high school. You will need to have good grades to make the team as well. So, work hard in class and on the field. Most school districts have a "no pass, no play" rule, meaning you usually need to keep your grades above a "C" average.
