Be an athlete's biggest fan. For parents this is easy. We all want to see our teens succeed and do their best. We also want to teach them good sportsmanship, how to be a good loser and what being a member of a team is all about. Be at every game to show your support.

Understand the sport you are watching and cheer at the best times. It is important as a fan to know what is going on while you are watching the game. Learn how the sport works and when to cheer the loudest and when to offer support.

    • 3

Support their fund-raisers. All high school sports teams have fund-raisers they do all year to help with the costs of competing and playing. Go to the fund-raisers, buy the candy bar or get your car washed. Do what you can to support your high school team.

Showcase the team. Join the school newspaper or yearbook or just offer to take photos of the games for the team members and coaches. You can show your support by helping to spread the word and showcasing your favorite team.

Start a blog or website and share it with the community. You can post scores, team information, playoff info and fund-raising information, as well as pictures and other fun stuff.

Talk to your principal or school district about adding an eStadium. It allows students at the game to get real-time stats, concessions information and other stuff right to their cell phones.
