Hockey Goalie Skating Drills
-
Side-to-Side
-
This drill consists of two players alternating shots. After one shoots from the face-off circle, they switch positions with the other. This helps the goalie with his/her quickness by allowing them to deflect shots while moving quickly from side-to-side.
Four Square
-
This drill consists of four players standing in a square pattern around the goal. They then pass the puck between them until the goalie appears, out of his/her position. They then take a shot. This helps the goalie with his/her positioning.
Crease Drill
-
The crease drill is one that helps with the goalie's quickness and power. The goalie starts by cutting from the middle of the net to the top of the crease. He/she then moves to the corner of the crease and to the other side. This pattern continues and the goalie works on moving his/her feet quickly.
