1
Power your heat gun to about 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. Some people use a stove, but it is harder to control the temperature of a stove. This can lead to stick damage if the power setting is too high.
-
2
Place the stick in the table vice so the vice is gripping the blade of the stick. The shaft should be sticking out toward where you are standing.
-
3
Locate the joint of the stick where the blade and the shaft connect. Using the heat gun, warm the area on all sides of this joint. Typically, you should be able to heat all of the sides thoroughly in just a few minutes.
-
4
Grab the handle of the shaft and pull it so the blade slides out. If it remains stuck, simply continue to use the heat gun in the stuck areas.
-
5
Locate the blade you want to put in your hockey stick. Heat the area that will be inserted into the stick to warm the glue that comes applied at the factory.
-
6
Insert the replacement blade by pushing it into the stick's shaft. Excess glue will usually spill out on the joint, so use a rag to wipe it away.
-
7
Allow the stick to cool down and verify the blade is glued properly in place.
