How to Keep Marks Off Your Goalie Pads
As a hockey goalie, you and your pads endure a lot of abuse. When players are on the verge of scoring, the puck and other players' sticks come in close contact with your padding. It's inevitable that your goalie pads will eventually become riddled with stick marks, puck scuffs and other abrasions. Most of these can be scrubbed out of the pad's surface with household cleaning products. To ensure that your pads stay presentable, perform these steps after each game.

1
Make a solution of warm water and several drops of mild dish soap. Mix the solution until the water is sudsy.
-
2
Saturate a microfiber cloth with the solution and wipe the outsides of the pads clean. In some cases, the marks will be removed during this step.
-
3
Apply a solvent, such as rubbing alcohol or a grease removal product, to the abrasive side of a clean sponge. Wring out the excess to avoid saturating the padding material with solvent.
-
4
Buff out the marks using firm pressure and a rapid circular motion. Repeat for each noticeable mark until your pads appear clean. Wipe the pads dry with a microfiber cloth.
