    • A more powerful version of the CRF 80F is made by Honda with 99cc displacement. It also has five speed gears, manual clutch and drum brakes, but comes with a seat height of 30.9 inches and ground clearance of 10 inches; it is only slightly heavier than the CRF 80F at 174 pounds. The CRF 100F sells for about $2,699 for a 2009 model and can be obtained for $1,000 secondhand as of September 2010.

    • With 85cc displacement, this Kawasaki two-stroke is only marginally more powerful than the CRF 80F but differs in having six speed gears and disc brakes in the front and rear. The bike is taller than the Honda, with a seat height of 33.2 inches and ground clearance of 13.4 inches, but weighs in at only 152 pounds. The 2011 version will be selling at $3,899. Older versions can be obtained for about $1,400 secondhand, as of September 2010.

    • The two-stroke Yamaha YZ85 has six speeds and 85cc displacement, with a seat height of 34 inches and a ground clearance of 13.8 inches. It weighs 156 pounds and has front and rear disc brakes. As of September 2010, the 2011 version retails for about $3,850, and secondhand models can be obtained for from $1000 upwards.

    Yamaha PW80

    • The PW80 is an older model to the YZ85, last built in 2006. It has an automatic three-speed gearbox, drum brakes and 80cc displacement. The seat height is 25 inches with 7.3 inches of ground clearance. As of September 2010, it retails for about $1,299, and secondhand models can be bought for about $600 and up.
