Vermont offers a number of trails for dirt bike riders, each with its own fun-filled tracks and courses. For more devoted riders there are many races and events held through the Vermont Motocross Association. Fees for this daredevil sport are very reasonable and camping and other amenities are usually available at the sites.
  1. The Many Types of Courses Found in Vermont for Dirt Bike Riding

    • Trails range from novice and amateur to expert terrains with a variety of challenging obstacles. Amateur is the most popular, with fewer beginner and expert trails available. Along with natural terrains and sanctioned tracks, red clay, sand and mud pits are a few extras for the more advanced and adventurous rider. Hills, valleys and steep inclines all add to the excitement for practicing jumps and spins.

    Vermont Motocross Association

    • MotoX racing event

The only one of its kind in Vermont, the Vermont Motocross Association is located at Rider Hill, in Derby Vermont. Riders and spectators come from all over New England and Quebec for these tracks that range from novice to expert. Its sole aim is to promote the sport in Vermont. It also sponsors a scholarship fund, dedicated to Nick Boutin who was killed early in his life. One dollar from every race goes to the fund and winners are chosen from applications submitted. The winners are announced at an annual banquet and the Vermont Motocross Association matches every contribution made to the scholarship fund.

    Fees for Riding Trails

    • Practice fees run around $10 to $20 while racing fees are higher and closer to $30 to $40. Spectators can purchase tickets with prices ranging from $10 to $40 depending on how close you are to the trails and tracks. Prices for children's admission are lower. Some parks require an annual membership fee to ride there, usually about $200 a year but this price doesn't always include all rides or events. These fees are current for 2011 and are subject to change.

    Extras Offered With Trails

    • Camping for overnight stays

Camping is usually offered on the sites themselves with hot showers, restrooms and places to clean dirt bikes too. Camping is usually available at no additional cost. AV hookups and refueling stations are nearby. In case of accidents, first aid is available with hospitals as close as 10 or 20 miles away for more serious injuries. For those that don't want to camp hotels are usually within five to 20 miles.
