Husqvarna 250 XC Manual Specifications

Husqvarna is not one company but several. Husqvarna Motorcycles, owned by BMW and based in Italy, does not make chain saws or sewing machines but does make small motorcycles renowned for their motocross and off-road performance. Husqvarna produced the 250 XC (the XC stands for cross-country) for the 1981 to 1988 model years. The information below applies to the 1984 model.

  1. Engine

    • Like similar bikes, the 250 XC is powered by a liquid-cooled, two-stroke single-cylinder engine. The engine's actual displacement is 245 cubic centimeters despite belonging to the 250 cc class of bikes. Power is transmitted through a six-gear gearbox. The compression ratio is 12.3 to 1.

    Physical Dimensions

    • The 250 XC shares a chassis with its 125 XC and 500 XC brethren. It is 86.2 inches long and 48.8 inches tall, with the seat 39.2 inches above the ground. It weighs 231 pounds. The wheelbase is 58.9 inches and ground clearance is 15.2 inches.

    Fuel

    • The 3.3-gallon fuel tank should be filled with an oil/gasoline mixture of 1:25.

    Miscellaneous

    • The chassis is supported in front by a telescopic 40-millimeter front fork with 11.8 inches of travel and in back by Husqvarna ITC suspension with 13.5 inches of travel. The Trelleborg tires measure 3.0 inches wide and 21 inches in diameter in front and 4.5 inches wide and 18 inches in diameter in back. Gear ratios are 22.7 in first, 16.4 in second, 12.5 in third, 10.0 in fourth, 8.5 in fifth and 7.1 in sixth.

    Similarly Named Bikes

    • In 2008, Husqvarna introduced the ongoing TXC 250 model of cross-country motorcycle. Twenty years after the company's 250 XC, it's a completely new bike. Even more confusingly, KTM introduced a bike it calls the 250 XC in 2008 that it continues to manufacture and sell through 2011.
