How to Dribble the Puck in Roller Hockey

Practice dribbling, the primary stick-to-puck skill, until you are good at it. Dribbling is controlling the puck, and whoever controls the puck controls the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold your stick with the puck in front of you.

    • 2

Angle the blade of your stick over the puck to help control it and protect it from other players.

    • 3

Push the puck back and forth in front of you as you skate, using both sides of your blade, and pushing the puck no further than a foot or two in either direction.

    • 4

      Roll your wrists.

    • 5

Use the tip of your blade.

    • 6

Try to develop your skills so that you don't have to look at the puck while you dribble. Then you'll be able to look around for defenders or an open pass.

    • 7

      Practice dribbling whenever you can.

    • 8

Practice turns, stops, starts, and sudden passes and shots from dribbling.

    • 9

Keep your stick low at all times. The stick is for the puck only and should never touch another player.
