1
Decide when you will be wearing the goggles. Your requirements will be different depending on where, when and how you'll be skiing, such as going for a half-term holiday in a resort you know well or doing a season in a resort you've never visited.
-
2
Choose your lens tint color by comparing your requirements to the list below:
Rose or smoke gray chrome lenses are used for overcast conditions, fog and low light. These colors emphasize shadows by filtering out blue light, meaning you can see the terrain more clearly.
Clear chrome orange, smoke blue chrome or smoke pink chrome lenses are for very low light, partly sunny partly overcast conditions or flat light. These colors filter out more blue light, enhancing your vision on partly overcast days or for twilight skiing.
Smoke green chrome, fire chrome, bronze chrome, bronze, gold chrome or locust chrome lenses are for sunny and bright days. These colors will reduce glare and keep your eyes comfortable in bright light.
Bronze polarized lenses are for very bright conditions. These lenses are heavily tinted and should be worn only in extremely bright conditions, since the tint will obscure your vision in less bright weather.
Clear, yellow or nightstalker blue lenses are for night skiing. The dramatically reduced visibility in the dark would be further reduced by wearing lenses with a darker tint.

3
Check which lens will fit your chosen frame. Von Zipper lenses are not interchangable between all frames. The company produces spherical and cylindrical lenses.
-
4
Decide whether you need a mirrored lens such as the smoke green chrome or locust chrome. These further reduce glare by reflecting the sunlight, so they are perfect for bright conditions that are not sunny enough to warrant the bronze polarized lenses.

5
Consider buying several lenses if the weather in your resort is unpredictable, if you will be visiting several resorts or if you are spending a long time in resort.
