How to Convert a Kid's Shoe Size to Ski Boots

Ski boots are measured in mondopoint sizing, which is based on the length of the foot in centimeters. A size 16 ski boot, for example, means it fits feet up to 16 cm long. When you are selecting a ski boot for a child, you need to perform a quick calculation to convert the child's U.S. shoe size into a mondopoint size.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine whether the child's shoe size is in the child scale or the youth scale. The child scale goes from size 0 to size 13, with a size 13 designed for a foot about 7.5 inches long. Kids usually reach size 13 at about five years of age. The youth scale begins at size 1 and runs into the adult scale at about size 5.

    • 2

Add 6 or 7 to a child's shoe size to estimate the ski boot size. Sizing varies slightly from one manufacturer to another.

    • 3

Add 18 or 19 to a youth shoe size to calculate the equivalent mondopoint ski boot size.
